Between her whale tail dress, her unexpected date, and her showstopping performance, Dua Lipa totally stole the show at the 2024 Grammys. But honestly, no one was all that surprised when she failed to make an appearance at the 2025 Grammy Awards on Sunday...mostly because her third studio album, Radical Optimism, failed to receive any nods in the general and pop categories.
Fans were shocked by the snub when the Grammy nominations were first released back in November, especially considering her 2021 album, Future Nostalgia, previously won the Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album. However, Dua seems to be taking the upset in stride.
During a December cover story interview with Billboard UK, Dua noted how proud she was (and still is!) of her latest album, despite the lack of noms. “I’m so proud of Radical Optimism and where it’s brought me," she said. “I love that album and I’m having the time of my life performing it live, and I’ve been able to do things that I thought I could only dream of this year, so I’m really grateful.”
The three-time Grammy winner went on to mention how happy she is to see the work of many fellow female artists (such as her longtime friend, Charli XCX) recognized this year. “Although it would have been nice to be recognized by your industry, especially as a woman, I’m so proud seeing so many incredible female artists nominated at the Grammys this year,” she added.
And no, she definitely isn’t feeling any regrets over making Radical Optimism, thank you very much. “I don’t think it really matters in the grand scheme of things where I am, where I want to be, and where I’m going,” Dua said of the snub. “It doesn’t change the way I feel about the record at all.”
