Hellmann's New Super Bowl Ad Teases a Famous ‘80s Rom-Com Deli Scene — and a Familiar Voice! Can You Guess Who It Is? (Exclusive)

The new clip offers a hint at who’s starring in the mayo brand’s upcoming big game spot

Hellman’s has unveiled a teaser for its upcoming Super Bowl commercial, which includes a very specific sandwich order and a heavy serving of nostalgia.

In a clip shared with PEOPLE that pays tribute to a famous 1980s rom-com, a waitress at New York City's Katz's Deli reads off a customer’s comically detailed preferences.

“So it’s one turkey on rye, but only if it’s fresh,” she begins. “If it’s not fresh, then on white bread, but then it’s toasted.”

“Two whole lettuce leaves, paper thin tomatoes, one sour pickle sliced lengthwise, so every bite has a bit of pickle, and some Hellmann’s mayonnaise,” she adds.

A familiar voice then instructs, “On the side.”

“On the side,” the waitress repeats back. “You better be a good tipper, lady.”

A few instrumental bars of “It Had to Be You” then play over the date of the big game: Feb. 9, 2025.

Last year, the brand tapped Kate McKinnon for its funny Super Bowl spot.

The Saturday Night Live alum played a cat owner whose pet went viral for saying the word “mayo.

In one memorable scene of the commercial, Pete Davidson walked a red carpet while holding the feline. “Is it serious?” reporters asked, suggesting that they were dating. Davidson gave a cheeky nod and smiled.

McKinnon told the animal, “You lasted longer than most,” to which Mayo Cat responded, “Mayo.”

“It was so fun. I've always wanted to do a Super Bowl ad, and I was so thrilled to be presented with one that had a positive social message and also one that involved cats,” McKinnon told PEOPLE.

She added that reuniting with her SNL pal — who also starred in Hellman’s 2023 Super Bowl commercial — was a major perk.

“I love Pete and whenever me and my colleagues see each other, it's just this immediate sense of warmth and family and ‘Oh my God, my brother, how are you?’” she said. “He's so sweet and great and so it was really fun.”
