A popular health bar has been urgently recalled from Woolworths stores nationwide over fears about the presence of a foreign matter.

Food Standards Australia issued a recall notice on Wednesday for the 28GO Go Bar triple choc protein 55G energy bars.

The food watchdog said a single batch of the popular supplement was found to contain a foreign matter, being plastic.

“Food products containing plastic may cause illness or injury if consumed,” the recall notice stated on Wednesday.

“Consumers should not eat this product (and) should return the product to the place of purchase for a refund.

“Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice.”

The affected batch, which was also sold online, bears the best-before date of June 28, 2024.

Produced by Arrotex Pharmaceuticals, the bars boast a five-star health rating and 16g of protein.

Outside of supplements, Arrotex is Australia’s largest generic pharmaceutical and private label over-the-counter medicines company.
