Harry Potter star Rupert Grint expecting first child

Harry Potter actor Rupert Grint and fellow British actress Georgia Groome are expecting their first child together.

Grint shot to fame at the age of 11, when he nabbed the role of Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter film franchise, while Groome is best known for her starring roll in the British film Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging.

The two have reportedly been together since 2011.

The news was confirmed by a representative of Grint to E! News.

“Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome are excited to announce they are expecting a baby and would please ask for privacy at this time,” the statement said.

Photos of the two out and about, with Groome sporting a bump circulated online on Thursday, according to E! News.

After starring in one of the most successful book-to-movie franchises of all time, Grint has largely maintained a low profile.

Children were always on the cards for the actor, as he indicated in a 2018 interview with The Guardian.

“I’d like to settle down and have kids soon,” he said.

“If I had a son, would I call him Ron? It’s quite a good name, but probably not. And Grint’s a tough name to pair a one-syllable first name with.”

Meanwhile Groome has been acting since 2001, and her leading role in the 2008 film Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging earned her an award for Best Child Actor at the Buster International Children's Film Festival.

Fans seemed genuinely happy with the news online.
