Harry Potter actor Jessie Cave 'raped at 14' by tennis coach
British actor Jessie Cave, best known for her role as Lavender Brown in the Harry Potter films, has claimed that she was raped by her former tennis coach at the age of 14.
The 33-year-old shared the allegations on Thursday in episode one of her new podcast, We Can't Talk About That Right Now, which she co-hosts with her younger sister, Bebe.
During their frank and open discussion, Bebe, 23, recalled a fiery argument she had with her famous sibling, who is ten years her senior.
“I remember we had a really bad fight once when we tried to work out who had a harder 'teenagerhood’,” she said.
“I mean, I was raped, so...” Jessie revealed.
Bringing some light to the conversation, Bebe then joked that Jessie uses the harrowing ordeal as ‘kind of a trump card’ to prove her teen years were more difficult.

“I do pull it out a lot...” Jessie admitted before Bebe interrupted, exclaiming, “I had braces for five years!”
“To be fair, acne and braces are bad but I think rape at 14 is pretty bad. By your tennis coach, who you trusted, who was in a position of power,” Jessie replied.
She went on to explain that even though she was ‘fit and able with a tennis ball’ she was ‘still taken advantage of’, adding that the man was eventually ‘sent to jail’.
Jessie, who is expecting her third child with her partner, comedian Alfie Brown, said that her sexual assault meant that she had a ‘completely different adolescence and early twenties’ to her sister.
“I was still recovering and my sexual journey was a completely abnormal road to yours and there are still consequences from that time that I'm only realising 18 years later.
“The more time I have away from it, and this is going to sound awful, but I do feel quite lucky in so many ways that I had a rape that was actually... it didn’t destroy me.”
Jessie starred as Lavender Brown — Ron Weasley aka Rupert Grint’s short-lived girlfriend — in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and both Deathly Hallows films.
She’s since established herself as an artist and has performed stand-up at comedy festivals such as the Edinburgh Fringe.
