Wendie Malick is revealing a sweet behind-the-scenes tidbit from the Shrinking set involving costar Harrison Ford.

The actress, 73, opened up about what it was like returning to the screen with the iconic actor, 82, in an interview with PEOPLE at the premiere of the Apple TV+ show's season 2. Explaining that she and Ford have developed a sweet bond, the Dream On alum shared the ritual the pair have when filming.

“He lets me ride around in his little golf cart that says ‘Cowboy’ on it,” she said. “He always picks me up and takes me to the stage, which is very generous of him. But I have to say that he is just one of the loveliest, most generous and funny leading men I've ever had.”

Malick also said Ford acts as her personal sommelier, introducing her to some of the best wines, and making her mixed drinks like “really wonderful tequila cocktails.” Reflecting on when the Indiana Jones star was PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive in 1998, Malick adds that she understands why he is such a fan favorite.

“Harrison, I think the reason he's had such lasting power, and it doesn't matter if he's getting older and a little wrinklier and gray-haired and stuff, it's the little mischievous smile that he has in everything he does,” she said. “That little dry sense of humor, which is so irresistible, and he doesn't take himself too seriously. I think there's something so appealing about that.”

She continued, “He's not one of those, ‘Hey…’, he's just sort of like, ‘I don't know. I don't even know how I got here. Who knows?’”

Now, on the second season of the beloved series, Malick said she and Ford have “established a good rapport,” making it easier to play on-screen love interests.

“That pretty much happened right away, but then coming back last season was really interesting because we got a little bit into my backstory and we shifted in terms of our relationship when I no longer could be his doctor as we were seeing each other,” she explained, referring to her character Dr. Julie Baram, who develops a romantic relationship with Ford’s Dr. Paul Rhoades after he becomes her patient following a Parkinson’s diagnosis.

“What I love about this show is it mirrors what so many of us are going through, dealing with unexpected loss and challenges health-wise, and how you choose your family at a certain age,” she added. “It's not so much the blood people as it is the friends you want in your life.”

Malick is also starring in the new Hallmark+ show The Chicken Sisters, where she plays Augusta "Gus" Moore, the owner of Mimi's Fried Chicken restaurant. Talking about how she prepared for the role, which comes from a book by the same name, she said she was able to take parts of that character and put her own twist on it.

“They just gave me the description of her and they moved it from the bestselling novel to being some fictional town in the south,” she explained. “But when I read the descriptions of her by the townspeople, it was always that she was kind of a witch, and she was kind of mean old so-and-so, and I just thought, ‘Maybe she's like an old hippie and she's a hoarder.’ And I thought, ‘Okay, can she wear overalls and men's boots and just be totally almost androgynous, but with this just long steely gray hair.’ And that just seemed like great fun to me.”

She then joked: “So it was the easiest hair and makeup and wardrobe I ever had.”
