Halsey Recalls ‘Demoralizing’ Moment a ‘Powerful’ Exec Looked at Their Nude Photos Without Consent
Halsey has revealed a disturbing incident they experienced with a “powerful” music executive that invaded her privacy.
“I was out and I was with this executive, like this really powerful executive who works in music in some capacity. It was very celebratory, and there was a lot of industry talk,” Halsey told the host of “Call Her Daddy,” Alex Cooper. “I didn’t feel weird about it at all. I never felt unsafe or anything.”

Halsey had taken a photo with the executive, who asked if he could use her phone to send the image to himself with the intention of sharing it with his niece. When Halsey left to use the bathroom, the executive had access to their unlocked phone, and when she returned, the executive was scrolling through photos of her nude body.
“I saw he was going through my nudes on my phone,” they recalled. “I was just frozen…I didn’t even know what to do. I was like, ‘Did I just imagine that? Was that an accident?’ I was thinking, ‘Did the phone scroll up? What the heck just happened?’”
Halsey added that she feared the executive had texted the nudes to his phone. “Did he text them to himself and then delete the messages? I don’t even know where these are now.”
The uncomfortable moment also served as a reality-check for Halsey. The singer, who just recently released their fifth studio album, “The Great Impersonator,” said she went into that experience feeling like “one of the big players,” and left it feeling like “nothing.”
“And when that happened, in that moment, I was like, ‘You’re nothing. You’re nothing. You’ll always be nothing,” they said. “You’re still just that fucking girl who’s getting taken advantage of, or like men are talking about you behind your back, or you’re some sort of like, collateral’. I was like, ‘You’re nothing.’ It was so demoralizing.”
