Christmas came early by special request for Rachel Boston's family this year!

As a Hallmark holiday movie regular, the 42-year-old actress is no stranger to channeling her inner Mrs. Claus at unexpected times of the year, but this October she found herself decking the halls early to please her Christmas-loving daughter Grace, 2.

Grace, who Boston shares with her professional chef partner Tolya Ashe, is a frequent visitor to her mom's movie sets. This year, she joined the Hallmark star as she filmed Debbie Macomber's Joyful Mrs. Miracle and accompanied her mother on the channel's October Jingle Stop Tour in celebration of 15 years of Countdown to Christmas.

Being surrounded by all that holiday fun led to Grace embracing the holiday spirit in a major way, which prompted Boston to put up the tree nearly three months before Christmas.

"I think she thinks Christmas is year-round," Boston tells PEOPLE of her daughter. "When we first came back from — she was with me in D.C. for the Jingle Stop Tour, Hallmark’s kickoff for Christmas — she immediately wanted our Christmas tree up. She didn't understand why in October our Christmas tree wasn't up yet, so we put up all of our Christmas decorations this year in October because that is normal to her."

Boston jokes that putting the tree up in October may end up becoming a new tradition if her daughter has her way, but she's also having fun getting her little one involved in the decorating process.

She shares, "I'm letting her decorate the tree this year, which has been so special."

According to Boston, her daughter has been picking out ornaments whenever they go out, but she's also hoping to get her involved in a bit of crafting before the holiday season is over.

"My real goal was to make a lot of Christmas ornaments, which we’re still working on [because] she's two. So we're in the process," she says, before adding, "We're still in hand turkeys right now because it's Thanksgiving."

Given her mom's penchant for starring in Hallmark holiday movies, it's no surprise Grace already has an abundance of Christmas spirit — and if her love for the holidays leads to a longer festive season for their family, her mom is more than okay with that.

"We’re going to do year-round Christmas and she’ll just think that’s how people do it," Boston jokes.
