Matt LaFleur has appreciated the support of his wife BreAnne LaFleur through the many stages of his football career.

Matt began his NFL coaching career in 2008 as an offensive assistant with the Houston Texans, before becoming a quarterback coach with the Washington Commanders. He also worked as a quarterback coach with the Atlanta Falcons and Tennessee Titans, before becoming the head coach of the Green Bay Packers, where he’s coached Aaron Rodgers and Jordan Love.

But, Matt met the love of his life before starting his career in the NFL. While working as an offensive assistant at Central Michigan University, Matt met BreAnne when she was working as a student trainer.

“Ironically enough, we met on a football field,” Matt told The Athletic. “I saw her just around town one day and we struck up a conversation. We’ve been together ever since.”

BreAnne worked as a pharmaceutical representative before pausing her career to raise their two sons, Ty and Luke. During an interview with PackersNews.com, she spoke about how impressed she is that Matt can transition back to being a fun dad after coming home from the intensity of coaching in the NFL.

“It’s amazing ... to see him go from this passionate football coach and coming home and doing nothing but wrestling with my kids, and having a great time,” BreAnne said. “Always a smile on his face. He’s just an absolute people person, and that’s what I love most about him.”

So, who is Matt LaFleur’s wife? Here’s everything to know about BreAnne LeFleur and her relationship with the football coach.

BreAnne had a career in pharmaceuticals

After graduating from Central Michigan University, BreAnne began a career as a pharmaceutical sales representative. In 2010, early in BreAnne’s career, Matt was hired to be the new quarterback coach of the Washington Commanders, where he would help develop Robert Griffin III and Kirk Cousins.

This meant that the couple would be moving from Houston, where Matt was an offensive assistant with the Texans.

“There’s a lot of work to do,” she said. “I have a career (as a pharmaceutical representative), where there aren’t a ton of jobs available. Hopefully I can find a position where I can transfer. Then we have to get a moving company ... It’ll be one of the easier moves we’ve made since I won’t have to do everything.”

They met in college

In 2004, Matt and BreAnne had their first encounter and it was a memorable one for all the wrong reasons. While BreAnne was attending college and working as a student trainer, Matt was coaching the Central Michigan University football team.

During a practice, Matt was charged up while coaching his players and BreAnne was in the way of one of their practice drills. Not wanting her to get hit, Matt yelled at her to get out of the way.

“She was a student trainer, and I’ll never forget. I noticed her, and she said I yelled at her the first time I talked to her, because she was in the way of a drill,” Matt told The Athletic.

They would cross paths again while Matt was a customer at a tanning salon she worked at in Mount Pleasant, Mich. After a few sessions he asked her out on a date and the rest is history.

Matt told BreAnne that being the wife of a football coach wouldn’t be easy

Trying to keep up a family life as a coach in the NFL isn’t easy. Not only is the job itself time consuming, but even the best coaches are often part of the NFL coaching carousel, involving being fired, re-hired and offered different jobs in a variety of locations.

Early in their relationship, Matt told BreAnne that being his wife wouldn’t be easy because of this, but she has stuck by him regardless.

"I joked with my wife, 'Hey, just understand I'm a football coach,' " Matt told the Green Bay Packers. "I always kidded with her, 'Hey, there's two kinds of wives. Coaches wives and ex-wives.' So thank God I've got a coach's wife. She is a trooper."

Matt and BreAnne have welcomed two kids together: Ty and Luke. Matt often credits BreAnne for doing such an amazing job in raising their children, much of the time on her own due to the nature of his job.

In 2019, when Matt was hired as the head coach of the Packers, Ty was entering second grade and Luke was entering kindergarten. They remained in Tennessee with BreAnne at the time to continue going to school after having just switched schools while relocating one year earlier.

“My wife ... is a saint,” Matt told The Chippewa Herald. “Family will always come first in my life. I’m lucky I’ve got such a supportive wife that allows me to fully indulge my time into my job. She does a great job raising our kids.”

Being married to an NFL head coach, BreAnne has been around for some exciting moments in Matt’s life. One of those moments was when Matt received a call that he would be the next head coach of the Packers.

She told PackersNews.com that Matt was so stunned, she had to remind him to answer Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy’s call.

“I’m like ‘You need to answer him!' “ BreAnne said.

She was also in attendance at Matt’s introductory press conference with the Packers, where she helped direct traffic in front of the Lambeau Field Media Auditorium, according to the Green Bay Packers. Matt’s parents, BreAnne, Ty and Luke had special seats beside the stage Matt was speaking on as Matt thanked them, even calling BreAnne, “the real rock star of the family.”

Super Bowl champion quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Matt had some great seasons in Green Bay including two trips to the NFC Championship game, three division titles and two MVP awards for Rodgers. During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show after a game in 2021, Rodgers was having fun pointing out how good Matt’s eyebrows looked with BreAnne’s help before he said how much he admired everything BreAnne does for Matt.

“Great eyebrow game, right? I mean, the eyebrows are amazing,” Rodgers said. “I want to take this time to give a shoutout to his wife, Bre because ... there’s many coaches who would have a really hard time getting through life without their wife.”

“She’s a great wife, great mom. They’ve got two really cute boys who I got to see before the game, Ty and Luke,” Rodgers continued. “Matt’s a great guy and he’s well put-together on game day, but behind every great coach is a wife pulling all the strings, I think, to make them look good, so a big shout-out to Bre.”
