After telling Yahoo Lifestyle just weeks ago that she’d be keen to be the next Bachelorette, Gogglebox star Angie Kent has officially landed the gig.
“Well … it’s official – I’m the new Bachelorette!” the 29-year-old wrote on Instagram on Friday. “I’ve always been the gal who loves to make everyone laugh, but now I reckon it’s time to have someone laugh with me, rather than at me.
“My heart is full, and after years of experiencing all life has to offer I finally have enough self-love and I’m open to all of life’s amazing possibilities. So, if 20 or so fellas want to get to know me and potentially end up being my partner in life and love – I say “why not?!
“Who am I to turn down the chance to find love?! Let’s give it a red hot go!” Watch this space –the adventure awaits!”
Angie, who finished off with Gogglebox last season alongside partner-in-crime Yvie Jones, appeared on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! just earlier this year.
After being eliminated she told Yahoo Lifestyle that becoming the Bachelorette wouldn’t be all too bad after she was “turned off dating” in 2018.
“I always said, ‘God no’, but you know what, I think after having more time on television now and being on the other side of the couch… I reckon I could be an alright Bachelorette,” she told Yahoo Lifestyle at the time.
“I’m definitely open to finding somebody. I just turned 29 so home girl’s not getting any younger, so for sure,” she laughed.
She and Yvie Jones finished up with Gogglebox last year, and then the opportunity arose to star on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! on Channel Ten, the network that airs The Bachelor and Bachelorette.
“I’m done with Gogglebox now,” Angie confirmed at the time. “I’ll always support the show and [am] hoping whatever comes my way… I’m leaving it up to the universe and seeing if there’s more to come.
“And if not, then it’s back to the drawing board.”
As for the kind of partner she’s looking for, Angie said it’s what on the inside that counts.
“I’m a big personality girl,” she explained. “I love someone who makes me laugh. I’m not super big on looks at all.
“So as long as if I did something like that, they didn’t send in a bunch of meat [inaudible] d**chebags, I think I would be open to it.”
“I haven’t dated properly in years,” she also revealed.
“I had a little bit of a whirlwind last year that turned me off dating for a while but it’s a new year and I’m a new woman so if I can take on the jungle, I reckon I can take on potentially dating again.”
