A woman refusing to share a bathroom with her boyfriend in the morning has sparked a debate online.

In a post shared on Reddit's Am I the A------? forum, the 24-year-old wrote that she and her boyfriend, 25, moved into a one-bedroom flat last month, where they share a single bathroom.

The user detailed that her boyfriend "has started coming into the bathroom when I’m there and uses it." She added that she would understand if her partner needed to utilize the bathroom "once or twice" if he "needed to go," but she highlighted how her issue was that she wants "some privacy."

The woman also explained that she and her boyfriend both "leave early in the morning" and that she was left feeling uneasy after her partner expressed that sharing the bathroom is "not that weird."

"This is my first long term relationship so I don’t know if this is normal and if I’m just making a big deal but the flat is tiny I just want some space," the Reddit user concluded. "I feel like we’re living [on] top of each other sometimes."

In the comments section of the post, many said that the couple needs to learn to “compromise and communicate” to meet each of their needs.

"If you both need to leave for work early, and it is about getting ready, there are things that do not need to be done in a bathroom. Except showering, shaving and using the toilet or sink. Getting dressed, putting in make up, blow drying hair, etc are things that can be done elsewhere," one user wrote.

"You need to work together. Maybe one has to get up 15 minutes earlier, with both of you taking turns doing this. You need to learn to work together and compromise," the person added.

Another agreed with the sentiment, writing, "This is what you do in a relationship, you compromise and find a way to work together."

One other commentator said: "Hubby and I have been together almost 30 years and the only time there is no sharing is when pooping. But remember once you have kids (and sometimes pets) even that privacy can go out the window."
