How to Make One-Pot Creamy Chicken and Noodles

With a four-star average rating among over 1,000 reviews, it's clear this isn't just another recipe: this dish is a creamy, garlic-kissed dream of a dinner. We know you're curious and need a plan for dinner tonight, so let's dig in.

You can find the full recipe on the NYT Cooking site, but we'll walk you through the basics. Start with a whole chicken and some softened unsalted butter. Pat the chicken dry, rub it with butter, and season with salt and pepper. Stuff a Parmesan rind into the cavity, place the chicken in a Dutch oven and scatter an entire head of unpeeled garlic cloves around it. Roast uncovered until golden which should take about 30 minutes.

Remove the pot from the oven and mash the roasted garlic, discarding the skins. Add enough water to reach halfway up the chicken. Bring the liquid to a simmer on the stovetop, then move the pot to the oven and roast until the chicken is tender and falling apart.

Once the chicken is done, add a pound of egg noodles and cook on the stovetop until the noodles are tender. The noodles will cook in the chicken-infused broth, giving them tons of delicious flavor. Turn off the heat, nestle a rosemary sprig in the pot, and let the dish sit for 5 minutes. Stir in some sour cream or crème fraîche to give the noodles a creamy sauce. Pull apart the chicken with two forks, mix it into the creamy noodles and serve with grated Parmesan and cracked black pepper.

According to the recipe, you can also throw in mushrooms or spinach or another quick-cooking vegetable if you want to add a little something more.
