Game of Thrones' 'The Mountain' will try to deadlift over 1,100 pounds for a world record live on ESPN

You can watch Thor Bjornsson try to set a deadlift world record on ESPN on Saturday.

The network announced Tuesday that it would bring back “The Ocho” programming on May 2 and kick it off with a live deadlift attempt by the man who plays “The Mountain” on HBO’s “Game of Thrones.”

Bjornsson, the 2018 World’s Strongest Man, is going to try to pick up 1,104 pounds to break the world record of 1,102 pounds that was set by Eddie Hall in 2016.

If you’re unfamiliar with the deadlift, it’s one of the most basic strength exercises to describe. You just try to pick up a barbell off the floor from a dead stop. Here’s Bjornsson casually picking up over 1,000 pounds. You know someone is ridiculously strong when a barbell is bending like that because of the weight plates on either side.

Here’s Hall setting the world record in 2016. We all can only dream of being this strong.

Bjornsson’s deadlift attempt will take place in his native Iceland and be broadcast at noon ET.

11 hours of ‘Ocho’ programming

ESPN will get crazy again with the rest of its Saturday schedule following Bjornsson’s deadlift as it pays tribute to the fake network that was made famous in the movie “Dodgeball.”

The network will broadcast marble racing, cherry pit spitting, a Golden Tee tournament, a Tetris tournament, a mini-golf tournament, and even lawnmower racing over the rest of the day.

The European TramDriver Championship is not included on ESPN’s programming list, however. The competition — which pitted tram drivers from all across the continent against each other in tests of proficiency — was part of ESPN’s lineup when it did an Ocho format back in August. And it was oddly compelling.
