Fyre Festival Planner Andy King Is Engaged and Creating a 'Magical' Scottish Wedding Celebration for 2025 (Exclusive)
"We are planning to have plenty of family and friends from both sides of the pond to celebrate our special day," King tells PEOPLE
Andy King is engaged!
The event planner — who rose to viral fame in 2019 after appearing in Fyre, Netflix's Fyre Festival documentary — got engaged on Dec. 4 to his partner of six years, Craig McBlain, at their farm in Hudson Valley, New York, overlooking The Berkshires and Catskill Mountains.
"We just returned from our annual holiday dinner and theater show in the city. We took Cooper, our rescue lab, for his evening hike to the top of the property at our farm. We enjoyed an amazing sunset and Craig pulled out a small bottle of champagne," King, 63, recalls to PEOPLE. "At that moment we knew it was the right time and we decided we wanted to get married."
Afterward, at their home celebration, the two came up with the idea to tie the knot in 2025 at Killochan Castle in Ayrshire, Scotland, where McBlain is from.
"We returned to the house to cook a romantic dinner and Craig surprised me with a holiday movie entitled A Merry Scottish Christmas. After watching the movie and seeing how magical it was, we thought what an amazing day it would be to get married in a castle," continues King, who recently finished in the final four on USA Network’s hit competition show The Anonymous, which is now streaming on Peacock.
He adds: "Craig has been measured for his family tartan kilt and I will be wearing matching tartan Trews. We are planning to have plenty of family and friends from both sides of the pond to celebrate our special day."
King previously made headlines for his water-for-sex offer in FYRE: The Greatest Party That Never Happened. In Netflix’s documentary about the failed 2017 Fyre Festival, King revealed that the festival’s disgraced founder, Billy McFarland, asked him to offer oral sex to a customs officer to gain access to bottled water for festival-goers — and he said he was "fully prepared" to do so.
In January 2020, a year after the release of the Fyre documentary, King was the face of an Evian campaign in which the water brand released a limited-edition bottle featuring a slogan inspired by his ordeal: "So good you’d do anything for it."
Six months later in July 2020, King hard launched his relationship with McBlain on Instagram, sharing a sweet snap together barefoot on the beach. "It only took 58 years to find true love ❤️," he captioned the post.

Until now, most people thought McBlain and King first met in 2019 at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami, as McBlain posted a selfie on Instagram with the party producer on April 3, 2019. "Unexpected couple of days in Miami and at Ultra Festival. Plus met the famous Andy King from the Fyre Documentary 🔥🌴," he wrote alongside a pic with his soon-to-be hubby.
But King tells PEOPLE they actually first crossed paths "randomly" at The Waterfront Venice in California.
"Craig was ordering a beer at the bar and I asked him where his accent was from. We chatted for five minutes then went our separate ways," King says. "A few months later, Craig turned on Netflix and on came the Fyre documentary."
He continues: "The following week I received a message on LinkedIn stating that he wasn't out, his family and friends didn't know he was gay but that he was returning to California the following month and wanted to treat me to lunch."
It was "perfect timing" because King was in Los Angeles at the time hosting a pre-Oscars gala at The Four Seasons. He was supposed to be heading back to New York shortly after but extended his stay in California by a few days to spend time with McBlain.
"We met again on Venice Beach but this time it was a little bit different with lots of cameras and fans," King says. "We managed to find a cute little out-of-the-way spot for lunch, walked the beach...and the rest is history. Craig jumped on a plane the following day to New York and we have been nonstop ever since."
Now, the couple can't wait to exchange "I do's" in 2025 surrounded by their friends and family.
