We never actually need an excuse for an afternoon sweet treat, but a brand-new dessert drop at Taco Bell might just be that push to hit “mobile order.”
Taco Bell is once again teaming up with dessert maven Milk Bar for a new cake-inspired menu item, the chain revealed to Food & Wine. The Milk Bar Birthday Cake Churro, a sprinkle-dusted treat with a gooey core of vanilla frosting, is timed to hit Taco Bell menus nationwide today. This isn’t the only time that Taco Bell has tapped the creative minds at Milk Bar — but it might just be the first instance you’ve been able to get your hands on one.
For just $2.99 at your neighborhood Taco Bell, you’ll receive two icing-filled churros that bring a vanilla spin to this classically deep-fried treat. (And as expected, they’re rolled in a cinnamon-sugar coating with Milk Bar’s distinctive pink sprinkles.) In a statement, Taco Bell describes them as “crispy and warm,” with a “delightful burst of sweetness and warm, crispy texture in every bite.” They play heavily into Milk Bar’s core Birthday Cake, which stands as the New York-based bakery’s bestseller.

“This second collaboration between Taco Bell and Milk Bar was inspired by the growing demand for unique and indulgent ‘little treats’ that bring joy to everyday occasions,” a brand representative tells Food & Wine. “Taco Bell and Milk Bar fans are always excited for something sweet, new, and unexpected. The nostalgia of Milk Bar’s birthday cake flavor remixed with crispy, warm Taco Bell churros deliver just that, combining the best of both brands.”
Milk Bar is likewise releasing a churro-inspired flavor of its award-winning truffles. These Churro Birthday Cake Truffles, which will be available today at the brand’s NYC flagship, feature a churro cake base, a decadent frosting center, and a thick coating of “churro birthday sand” on the outside.
Sound familiar? In 2022, the two brands launched a Strawberry Bell Truffle, a sweet cake truffle soaked in strawberry milk with a gooey “sweet corn fudge” center. Similar to Milk Bar’s iconic cornflake-dusted desserts, this experimental treat was coated in a sweet-and-salty mix of strawberry corn cereal. However, it did have one drawback: this trial dessert was only available at one Taco Bell location in Los Angeles and two Milk Bar flagship stores. The company reports that this sweet treat, sold for $2.99 per two-pack, sold out in mere days.
“This one-of-a-kind truffle is the friendship-fueled fruition of a concept made possible by a mutual dedication to innovation,” Rene Pisciotti, executive chef at Taco Bell, said in a 2022 statement. “[Milk Bar founder] Christina Tosi and her culinary team worked closely with experts within Taco Bell’s very own test kitchen on this collaboration, and we couldn’t think of better partners to learn from and team up with.”

Milk Bar’s been in the collaboration game for a while. From limited-run sneaker drops to head-scratching food partnerships (slice of a Cheetos layered cake, anyone?), the brand’s clearly willing to think outside of the cake box. As for the Strawberry Bell Truffle, Milk Bar’s James Beard award-winning founder said the brand’s partnership was on her wishlist for quite some time.
Bottom line: Whether you’re a Taco Bell purist or someone who’s thrilled to try the latest thing, these churros surely won’t stick around for long.
