Is this the world's weirdest dessert?
What looks like a giant gelatinous dew drop, is in fact a dessert called the ‘raindrop cake.’
Created by New Yorker Darren Wong, the wobbly treat is made from mineral water and agar - a gelatin-like substance made from algae.
Wong was inspired by the 2014 Japanese viral food trend and decided to get to work creating his own raindrop cakes.
“They looked like a really cool and fun food experience,” Wong told BuzzFeed. “There are very few foods that engage this many senses at the same time, which is what attracted me to this dessert in the first place.”

So what on earth does this giant jelly raindrop taste like?
“It tastes like eating a giant raindrop, duh!” Wong said.
At the Smorgasburg markets in Brooklyn, New York, Wong sells his raindrop cake dessert topped with roasted soybean flour and brown sugar syrup.
Apparently it is vegan and contains zero calories, but despite its healthy qualities and visual appeal, is the $10 water blob really worth it?

Those who tried the gelatinous dew ball took to Instagram to share their images as well as their reviews, which seem to be mixed.
*Gammacataclysms: Raindrop cake: unsurprisingly watery tasting.*
*Tcbeasleyjr: My first thought was someone lost their implant.*
*Afaelnar: The raindrop is fascinating and neatly presented but by itself (without the brown sugar syrup and roasted soy flour), it is indeed flavourless and tasted like water.*
*Chelleny: Not gonna lie, my tears have more taste than this raindrop cake… it’s the most expensive water i’ve ever have. The packaging and presentation are pretty though.*
The general consensus seems to be that it looks a lot better than it tastes.
