Four Foods You Should Never Reheat

When it comes to reheating food, it can be a gamble as to what might make you feel ill afterwards. To clear up the confusion, Women’s Health editor Felicity Harley appeared on The Morning Show today to outline the four foods you should be wary of consuming two days in a row.

1. Chicken
“Chicken is a tricky one as it contains a certain amount of contamination already so you have to be really careful with reheating,” says Harley.

The editor also points out that because chicken is most often reheated in a microwave, the rays tend to cook in sporadic points instead of all over.

“The tip is to turn it regularly [during the cooking process],” explains Harley, adding that you can also reheat it on the stove.

2. Rice
“Rice is better eaten when it’s super hot,” says Harley.

3. Potatoes
“If you leave these out at room temperature, they can harbor bacteria which can make you really ill,” explains Harley. “As soon as they come off the stove, take them out and pop them in the fridge straight away.”

4. Leafy greens
“There can be high levels of nitrate in these which can turn carcinogenic when you reheat it," Harley cautions. "Be careful with kids – it can restrict oxygen in their bloodstream.”
