The Alpine Winter Festival 2011

The Australian Winter Festival has returned and is bringing with it the Alpine winter magic.

Enjoy the delights of an authentic European winter in the heart of the city, as the Australian Winter Festival tours the country from June to September.

Finishing up its debut Brisbane Festival, it’s now at the iconic Bondi Beach, before heading to the Sydney CBD , and finishing up in Melbourne.

This year, the festival will offer its most exciting line-up yet; an array of gourmet winter food sensations, some dazzling action on the ice, and authentic après ski experiences that will enhance the atmosphere to make you feel as if you’re on a European ski holiday.

Thrill seekers can enjoy a skate on one of the country’s largest outdoor ice skating rinks, whilst food-lovers can sample some of the most delicious dishes from over 20 winter-loving countries. There will also be 15 delicious food stands to choose from and an amazing Alpine Ski Hut, which includes a gorgeous heated outdoor terrace.

Go there with an empty stomach, as you won’t want to miss out on the many Winter-themed delights, from the exhilarating through to the mouth-watering.

RECIPES: Warm up your winter with these drinks

Relax with a traditional Glühwein (authentic mulled wine) at the Festival’s stylish Alpine Ski Hut, or rock on to live music and entertainment at the Illuminated Cubic Bar. And if you’re feeling a bit chilly, why not warm up at the Lipton Chai Latte Lounge for your FREE Chai Latte. It is great post ices skating!

And guess what? Entry into the festival is free, yes that’s right, FREE!

Ice skating can be booked online at [www.winterfestival.com.au |www.winterfestival.com.au] and costs $20 for adults/$15 for kids, which includes a 45 minutes skating session. With an additional $7 for ice-skate rental. In previous years ice skating for most sessions sold out prior to the event, so book your tickets early so you don’t miss out on skating on the largest outdoor ice rink Australia has ever had.

So if you can’t make it to the Aussie slopes for a bit of Winter fun, head to the Alpine Winter Festival for a great winter experience that can be enjoyed by the whole family.
