How much would you pay for a 500ml tube of McDonald’s signature sauce?

At least one person has decided it’s worth way more than a diamond ring, new car, or an around the world trip.

The special sauce, that sits best on top of two all beef patties, lettuce, cheese, pickles and onions on a sesame seed bun is currently sitting at $23,000 on eBay after 135 bids.

But with eight days left to bid, who knows what outrageous price it will eventually fetch?

The bottle is the first of 200 special 500ml sauce bottles to be sold.

“That makes it rarer than a spot on Bondi beach on New Years Day,” the eBay description reads.

The proceeds from the auction will go to Ronald McDonald House.

But for those on a budget, there is hope.

Another 600 smaller tubs, containing just 25ml of the creamy white substance, will be sold around Australian outlets for just 50 cents.

McDonald's Australia's chief marketing officer Mark Lollback said “we're excited to be the first country in the world to offer tubs of Big Mac sauce to our customers”.

"I know of people who love adding our special sauce to all types of food – from French fries to McNuggets – so it's going to be interesting to see what Aussies choose to add a spot of Big Mac sauce to over the next month,” he said.

According to eBay, the sauce can also be used to improve the taste of “Cupcakes, ice cream, macaroni jewellery, and fish oil capsules”.
