Flavor Flav has had a career as a rapper, a reality TV star and — most recently — an advocate for the U.S. Olympics women’s water polo team, but his most important role is that of a father.

The Public Enemy founder, whose birth name is William Drayton Jr., welcomed three children, daughters Shanique, Karren and Kayla, with his ex Karen Ross. He also has three children, Da’Zyna, William and Quanah, with ex Angie Parker.

Flav later welcomed his son Karma with Liz Trujillo, and in 2019, he had his youngest son, Jordan, with his former manager Kate Gammell.

Some of Flav's children joined the musician on Growing Up Hip Hop: New York, with Flav sharing during a 2019 panel that he was excited to work with them.

"I’m used to having them on TV with me, but now I get to be on TV with them,” he said.

From appearing with him on reality television to meeting famous rappers alongside him, here’s everything to know about Flavor Flav’s kids.

Flav shares his three daughters, Shanique, Karren and Kayla, with Ross. Flav’s daughters have chosen to remain out of the public eye, though the rapper did post his congratulations for Shanique after she graduated from college in May 2023.

“Congratulations to my daughter Shanique Y Drayton for completing her courses and getting her Bachelors degree in business and finance,” he wrote alongside a photo of him embracing her in her graduation robes. “I am very proud of her and I’m glad that God gave me the chances to be able to see this. Congratulations Shanique I love you.”

Kayla is a mother of two kids, a son and a daughter, whom she frequently posts on Instagram.

Flav had a relationship with Parker in the 1980s and 1990s. Together, the former couple welcomed daughter Da’Zyna and sons William and Quanah.

All three attended the premiere of Growing Up Hip Hop: New York in August 2019 alongside Flav. Quanah followed in his dad’s footsteps as a rapper, performing under the name H2Flee, while William has remained more private.

Da’Zyna graduated from SUNY Old Westbury and is now a CLEAR Customer Service Rep while also freelancing as an entertainer in Las Vegas, per her LinkedIn.

Da’Zyna confronted her father about being absent in her childhood

While appearing on Growing Up Hip Hop: New York, Da’Zyna opened up in a candid conversation with Flav about feeling neglected by him as she was growing up.

“Growing up was hard,” Da’Zyna said. “It was very hard. It was not fun half the time. I had to deal with bullies and fighting. I had bumps and bruises. You not being there and stuff…it was a lot.”

She told her dad that at one point she was homeless, leading Flav to wipe tears from his eyes.

Flav has spent quality time with his son, Karma, whom he welcomed with his former partner Trujillo. Together, Karma and Flav have traveled across the country and met some exciting celebrities, from Jack Harlow in November 2023 to J. Cole in September 2023 at a music festival.

Flav also took his son to watch Formula 1 racing in Las Vegas in November 2023, where they spent time with country star Keith Urban and DJ Diplo.

When he was 60 years old, Flav welcomed his youngest child, Jordan, with his former manager Gammell on July 21, 2019. Gammell often posts photos and videos of Jordan dressing up in various wigs and costumes and performing as different characters like Jaden Smith’s Dre Parker in 2010’s The Karate Kid and Robin WilliamsMrs. Doubtfire from the 1993 film of the same name.

In addition to his impressive acting skills, Jordan is also following in his dad’s footsteps as a performer, with Gammell posting videos of the little boy singing everything from Beyoncé’s “16 Carriages” to James Brown’s “I Got You.”

Though Jordan mainly resides with Gammell, Flav has posted with his son on a few occasions, including his 3rd birthday in 2022.

“I’m very proud of my son’s musical skills,,, upcoming Drummer,, and Singer at 3 !!!” Flav wrote in an Instagram post. “He’s incredible ladies and gentlemen,, Yeah y’all will be seeing him soon trust me,,, FLAV.”

They all appeared on Celebrity Family Feud together

In April 2024, Flav revealed that he and all eight of his children filmed an episode of Celebrity Family Feud together.

“Still looking great with all of my 8,!! 🙏🏾🫶🏾🔥,” the rapper wrote, alongside a photo of him sitting in front of his children, with Jordan in the director’s seat directly behind him.

Being a father of four women inspired him to sponsor the U.S. women’s water polo team

When U.S. women’s water polo team captain Maggie Steffens put out a call on Instagram for sponsorships for the team to go to the Paris Olympics, she had an unexpected fan reply in her comments: Flav.

“Some may not know this, but most Olympians need a 2nd (or 3rd) job to support chasing the dream (myself included!) and most teams rely on sponsors for travel, accommodations, nutritional support, rent/lodging and simply affording to live in this day and age,” Steffens wrote on Instagram.

Flav’s manager flagged the post to the star, who was inspired to help as a father to four girls himself.

“AYYY YOOO,,, as a girl dad and supporter of all women’s sports - imma personally sponsor you my girl, whatever you need,” Flav wrote. “And imma sponsor the whole team.”

Since then, Flav has followed through on his promise, sponsoring the team and even promising them a Virgin Voyage cruise as well as a $1,000 bonus. Flav also attended the 2024 Olympics, rooting for the water polo women in the stands.

“There's a lot of women, I'm saying that all they want is just a chance,” he told PEOPLE in May 2024. “And all they want to do is feel like they got a chance. So I just wanted to help out, and help give women that chance that they are looking for.”
