Brie Larson Got Comfortable in Converse at the Oscars Afterparty

Brie Larson’s a winner and she can do what she wants to.

On Sunday night, the actress accepted the Oscar for Best Actress at the Academy Awards for her role in Room. Wearing a custom Gucci gown in royal blue, she thanked her partner in crime, co-star Jacob Tremblay, and her “partner in life,” Alex Greenwald.

But before letting loose, she switched up her look and changed into a dusty pink gown.

While her first outfit was loud with lots of detailing and diamond accessories, Larson toned it down for part two.

Designed by Monse Maison, the velvet number was loose and draped and featured a leg slit that showed off her matching heels.

But those coordinating shoes didn’t seem to stay on her feet for too long, because from the festivities, Larson shared an Instagram of her chowing down and wearing Chuck Taylors.

Funny enough, Larson wasn’t the only one to ditch her uncomfortable shoes.

Amy Adams, Jessica Biel, and Demi Lovato were all pictured holding their footwear in their hands.

Larson was actually the smart one to bring along an extra pair of comfortable sneakers.

The black tie and street style works her for her, too.

It seems that casual wear is what Larson likes to wear the most anyway.

Asked backstage about facing industry sexism in the press room following her win, she said, “In particular, there were many times that I would go into auditions and a casting director would say, ‘It’s really great. Really love what you’re doing, but we’d love you to come back with a jean miniskirt and high heels.’"

When asked to change up her look to fulfill a fantasy, she struggled with whether or not to comply.

Generally, when faced with this type of decision, she noted that she sticks to her morals. “I personally rejected that notion,” she said.

“It always made me feel terrible because they were asking me to wear a jean miniskirt and heels to be sexy, but a jean miniskirt and heels does not make me feel sexy. It makes me feel uncomfortable.”
