Gearing up for her seventh consecutive New York Fashion Week show (February 12), Nicky Zimmermann opened up her little Big Apple book to Yahoo7 Lifestyle, sharing her favourite spots around town. Here's where the Aussie fashion designer eats, stays and shops in NYC.

Favourite New York hotel?
I am staying at The Greenwich Hotel again this season. It's gorgeous and in a great location downtown in Tribeca. I can easily pop into our SoHo store to visit or meet friends in the West Village.

Best shopping location?
It's not a secret but I love Maria Tash in SoHo and Catbird in Williamsburg. Both are jewellery stores that sell fine, delicate pieces with an edge.

Best NYC brunch spot?
I always go to Sant Ambroeus in SoHo on Lafayette.

Best rooftop bar?
The Wythe Hotel - it has a spectacular view!

Where will you celebrate post show?
This season I plan on taking my team for a well deserved post-show drink to a little hidden treasure in Tribeca called Smith and Mills. It’s small and cozy, perfect in the New York winter

Best place for coffee in NY?
I love Saturday's Surf on Crosby St Soho or Toby's in Williamsburg.

Favourite restaurant?
There are so many good restaurants in New York and new ones popping up so I am constantly trying new spots. On a cold winter's night I love going to Carbone for homely Italian, but if I am still in the city on a Sunday I cannot go past the miso cod at Nobu.

Most Instagram-worthy location?
Central Park.

Three things every visitor must do in New York?
You can’t go to New York without spending time in Central Park. Either having a stroll in the winter or spending time on the grass in summer - it doesn’t get old. I'd also visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art (on 5th Avenue). And it's touristy but I loved flying over the city in a helicopter, the view is spectacular.

Zimmermann’s Fall 2016 show will take place at 12pm, Friday February 12 at Artbeam Studio, Chelsea.
