It wasn't all Santos Tequila and cigars for Guy Fieri this Father's Day. The celeb chef and Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives star opened up on Instagram about celebrating the holiday for the first time without his own dad, whom he called his "hero."

"Hope everyone's having a great Father's Day. I'm with Hunter and Ryder and the family right now and bunch of our friends all getting together," Guy said in a video on Instagram. "Kind of a tough day for me, first Father' Day without my dad Jim, but even when you're having a tough day some little miracles happen in the world."

Guy went on to tell his followers about a "little miracle" that occurred during the celebration. "Today at dinner [the daughter of close friends] came up to me and gave me a card and handed me this glass that says, 'Only the best uncles are promoted to godfather,' and asked me if I'd be her godfather. Pretty special day," he said. "I said I would be honored and YES," he wrote in the caption. *Cue the tears.*

Fans were quick to rally around Guy in the comments.

"What?? I’m so sorry I hadn’t heard!! Hope you had a great Father’s Day with your family though. Hugs ❤" one fan wrote.

Another added, "That’s awesome Guy. I know how you feel, my first without my dad too. Pretty tough stuff. 🙏🏼 stay blessed."

"I hadn’t heard about your dad! So sorry for your loss," a third fan commented. "You know we watch your family on TV and we feel like we know you all! I hope you feel the LOVE from everyone."

Back in 2022, Guy Fieri opened up about his dad's pancreatic cancer in a cover story for People Magazine. The television personality was simultaneously celebrating his father's 80th birthday and five-year anniversary as cancer free.

"He's been a great advocate for people that have gone through it," Guy said at the time. "Because there's not a lot of knowledge about it. It's not a great success rate. But I think you got to live every single day. That's the biggest thing, is you never know what tomorrow's going to bring."

"I think I was fortunate when I got into television, I got in when I was what, 36, 37 years old, maybe older than that, but I'd already done what I wanted to do. I wanted to be a dad, I wanted to be a great dad. I want to be like my dad," he continued.

"My dad Jim is my hero. Both my parents are. Both really hard working, both committed to taking care of our family, both committed to being great members of the community. So I wanted to be like them."
