Fans Say Kit Kat Is 'Taking Things Way Too Far' With Savory New Collab

Although we’ve got a ways to go before April 1, lots of brands are already ramping up their offering of unique and wacky items, leaving some of us wondering if April Fools came early this year. In some ways, that would be a relief, but we can begrudgingly confirm that (mostly) everything we’ve seen so far in 2025 is, in fact, real.

Beyond all the more serious headlines, there’s been lots of chatter in the food scene lately about new products that seem more fitting for the Joker’s favorite holiday than your average everyday lunch stop. From the mildly confusing—like Liquid Death’s soda-flavored sparkling water—to more intriguing releases like the Popeye’s x Don Julio collab, brands are kicking off the year with more than we could’ve ever bargained for.

Of course, while it’s easy to dismiss some offerings as a matter of personal preference, some launches have us scratching our heads in disbelief rather than chomping at the bit for a chance to try it. Tontino’s Pizza flavored Cinnamon Toast Crunch? No, thank you. Are we sure it’s not April Fools? Regardless, the weird collab train keeps chugging along, and even Pizza Hut is jumping on the bizarre mashup bandwagon with their latest release, which fans are saying “sounds gross.”

The nauseating delicacy in question is none other than a Pizza Hut x Kit Kat Handy Melt that foodie influencer @snackolator says is “taking things too far!” Yep, that’s right, folks. Pizza Hut in Japan is now serving a pizza pocket that features the winning combination of melty cheese with the chocolatey flavor of Kit Kat (barf). Sounds like a match made in heaven, right? We’ll leave that up to you to decide.

Judging by the comments, though, most fans aren’t even remotely interested. Overwhelmingly, the consensus was a resounding, “god no,” with some saying the item looked like, well, “poop.”

Despite the general temperature, some users expressed interest and even explained that it might not be that bad if the cheese was brie or mozzarella cheese. Personally, we’ll leave it to others to try, but who knows? We’ve been proven wrong before. If you need us, we’ll be stocking up on the limited edition Lemon Crisp Kit Kats in the meantime.
