Fans Say Kelly Clarkson Might 'Dethrone Mariah as the Queen of Christmas' With Upcoming Holiday Song
When Kelly Clarkson covers a song, it’s a safe bet that her version will be out of this world, to the point that artists joke that a “Kellyoke” performance of their song will blow theirs out of the water.
But what if you're Mariah Carey and she’s coming for your signature genre?
After the “Because of You” singer announced on Sept. 23 that she has a new holiday song coming out later in the week, fans flocked to social media to posit that she “might just have to dethrone Mariah as the Queen of Christmas 🤭👑” and that she is ‘taking over the title of the queen of Christmas year by year. Sorry @mariahcarey.”
Clarkson, who released her first Christmas album Wrapped in Red in 2013, shared the news on Instagram, writing “Christmas in September? 👀 …..okay🎅🏼 My new holiday single 'You For Christmas' is out this Friday, September 27!”

She continued, noting that the song is a collaboration with Mark Ronson, the songwriter and producer behind massive hits like Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk,” and his Barbie soundtrack partner, Andrew Wyatt. “I can’t wait for y’all to hear it,” she concluded.
“Stop it Kelly. You know I’m in love!,” wrote one fan, while another called the upcoming single “The gift that keeps on giving! 😍🎄.”
Clarkson has more holiday music on the way—this month she partnered with country singer Brett Eldredge and lent her voice to the song “Sweet December.” This is the second time she’s done a holiday duet with the “Love Someone” singer, as he joined her on “Under the Mistletoe” in 2021.
