Fans Hail Pat Sajak a 'Legend' After Daughter Maggie Shares Childhood Photo of Him: 'Little Did He Know'

Pat Sajak on 'Wheel of Fortune'

Pat Sajak has given over 40 years of his life to making Wheel of Fortune a household name, and now, he's looking ahead to a new chapter as he prepares to enter retirement.

In honor of his last episode hosting the game show, his daughter Maggie—who works as the broadcast's social correspondent—took to Instagram with a childhood photo of him. And from the looks of it, Sajak was bound to have a future in TV.

The single black-and-white snapshot found a young Pat dressed to the nines in a dapper suit and bowtie. His hair was brushed back neatly in a suave, slick style as he wrapped his arm around the vintage-style television box set sitting atop a dresser. He smiled sweetly as he looked straight toward the camera.

"Little did he know..." Maggie captioned the nostalgic throwback, which was very telling of her dad's future (and extremely successful) entertainment career.

Fans in the comment section became misty-eyed over the capture, wasting no time in expressing how much Pat has meant to TV.

"Your dad is a bloody legend," one said, while another added, "❤️will miss your dad ❤️."

"This is so sweet! I'm so sad tonight is his last show. I'm 43 and have been watching for as long as I can remember. I hope he has a lovely retirement," a third chimed in.

Someone else dubbed him a "TV Game Show Legend!" while yet another said the decades-old image was "priceless."

As for retirement, the longtime host already has his sights set on a new title: grandpa.

In a recent interview, he hinted to Maggie that he'd be "perfectly happy" with his next chapter "if it just means that I'll continue with my crossword puzzles and play with grandchildren... hint hint hint. No pressure," he said.
