Fans divided over star's VMAs red carpet outfit: 'Trash bag'
Lizzo has stunned fans with her incredible look on the red carpet of the MTV Video Music Awards, while others mocked her couture gown.
The superstar rocked a billowing navy couture Jean Paul Gaultier gown with creased detail that hung off her shoulders.
She teamed it with a pair of long sheer navy gloves with her hair slicked back and bold dark makeup, including smokey eyes, black lipstick and a gold ring on her bottom lip.
Some fans went wild for the outfit after she posted snaps from the awards on Instagram, with many embracing her metal-inspired look.
"Stunning," one commented.
"This is everything," another said.
"I gasped," a third added while somebody else wrote, "Breathtaking and badass".
Lizzo also posted a video from the awards night, showing herself spinning across a road as the wind emphasised the gown's parachute effect.
"Favourite look of yours ever," one said.

While some loved the look, other fans were divided by her choice, with one saying her outfit resembled a "trash bag".
"This is wrong on so many levels," one commented.
"Lord it's an airbag," another said.
"I was thinking the blueberry from Willy Wonka," a third added.
Another fan claimed Lizzo had turned into a "bouncy castle" while another said it "looks like you got caught in a duvet cover".
Meanwhile, other stars also donned daring outfits on the red carpet with Taylor Swift wearing a racy silver-beaded flapper-inspired dress while Lil Nas X ditched his shirt for his red carpet look.
His outfit, however, was dramatic, with large feathers sprouting out the side of his pants as he wore a large disc on his back that had black hair detail layered onto it.
Gowns with cut-out detail are also proving popular at this year's awards, with model Ashley Graham baring her belly button in her black gown and English singer Mae Mullar donning a black latex dress with a large cut-out between the breasts.
