Fans Say 'I Need Like 5 of Them' As Popular Dessert Brand Debuts Deep Fried Twist

Legend has it that if you whip up a luscious New York-style cheesecake and set it on your windowsill to cool, it’ll disappear before you can say, “Hey! Who took my cheesecake?!” It was me. I took it. Can you really blame me, though? Who can turn down a creamy slice of perfectly sweetened, slightly tangy cheesecake? Especially when it’s practically taunting me with its aroma—you know, like those cartoony scent trails that used to make Mickey, Tom & Jerry levitate to the source of the delectable smell? Yeah, just like that.

It’s hard to imagine a more perfect dessert that can be dressed up with various flavors and toppings and is best served at any occasion, any time of year. There’s almost no way to improve upon the original. Unless you batter it, crust it in cornflakes, and deep fry it, that is. Deep frying cheesecake isn’t new by any means, but a deep-fried slice of Junior’s original? Now, that just takes the cake.

For those of you unfamiliar, Junior’s is a New York institution and has been pumping out the most fabulous cheesecakes since the early 1950s. They’ve got tons of flavors and even ship their legendary sweets straight to your door if you don’t happen to live in New York. It’s safe to say they’re experts. Like any icon, though, there’s always another level, and Junior’s just announced that they’ll be slinging deep-fried slices at their flagship Brooklyn location.

Now, for a limited time, cheesecake-loving patrons can trek to the Flatbush Ave location in Brooklyn for a slice of the OG dipped in egg whites, crusted with cornflakes, and deep-fried to golden brown perfection. The tantalizing treat will be served hot with your choice of toppings like graham cracker crumbles, rainbow sprinkles, crushed Oreos, whipped cream, and another New York City icon, crushed black and white cookies.

Needless to say, the news was met with raucous fanfare on Instagram, with most saying, “Oh yes need 14 of them now 😍.” “Oh myyy goodness,” said another. It looks like we may have to book a flight. And we’ll make sure to bring back a slice to make up for swiping yours from the window. If we don’t eat it first, that is.
