Fancy Feast & Jenna Lyons Debut New Cat Dinnerware Collection & It's Iconic

Fancy Feast knows how to live up to their name. Between chef inspired meals for your feline friend, their flawless mascot and now their newest collaboration with Jenna Lyons, they’ve really embraced being the fanciest cat food brand. They teamed up with the RHONY star for a set of dishes for cats and their humans.

The launch of this iconic dinnerware collection was in NYC over a Fancy Feast inspired dinner party on a rooftop overlooking the Empire State building. Lyons spoke about the collaboration as our first course came out.

“I know that having that inside of a brand, that the experience of working with the team has a lot to do with the quality of the people. And everyone's been wonderful. And I just wanna say special thank you to everyone who I've had the chance to work with on the team. You guys were great, and I would tell you if you weren’t.”

She found inspiration in her newest house members and was thrilled to share their energy and her love for her pets through the design.

“I made these little sketches that are just doodles that I do all the time. And then I painted some of them, and then also there's a little color story that captures different cats you might have at home.”

Before the dinner started, I got a chance to sit with the style icon and talk to her about her newfound cat lady life and designing the plates.

You have three cats now, a dog and the two kittens who got this year with Cass. How is the adjustment been for everybody?

"I mean, it's actually been great, Charlie could not have been more excited to have played things so, having two kittens has been great for him. He loves it. I think he needed friends."

"I love having cats. I've never been a cat person. I've always had dogs and they are much more like in your face. Cats make the energy in the house kinda beautiful. When they move their energy through the house, they make the house feel alive in a way that I didn't really know was possible. It feels full and quiet. Sometimes, it feels a little mysterious there. These beautiful, magical creatures. I had no idea. And now I understand why."

"They’re so cuddly, but they're also really aloof. We have a rule in the house, if the cat is lying on you, you don't have to do anything. You don't wash the dishes, you don't have to help, you get cat time."

It's an important rule.

"There's a beautiful Japanese image that I've seen where there's a woman and the cat is laying on her dress and she's cutting her dress to not disturb the cat."

Oh, my gosh, that's the next plate.

"Yes!"

I think your cats kind of look like Adam Driver. I was wondering if you had any celebrities you think your pets look like?

"Probably more Jocelyn Wildenstein than Adam Driver!"

What's your feeding schedule like for everybody? Animals? Humans?

"Popeye has his own schedule, and it's basically, we will feed the cats when we're eating, mostly because we don't want them to participate. And it's also kind of nice and ceremonious. So that was one of the reasons I designed these plates because we really do feed everybody at the same time."

From one stylish cat lady to another, I feel like a lot of cat things are not very stylish, Especially when it comes to home decor. Do you have any tips on how to make your home both cat friendly and stylish?

"I think acknowledging that they want to spend on things and finding cool things for them. Especially as opposed to just having them tear up your furniture because for the first couple months that was sort of the vibe. They were like, “I like the sofa and I'm going to have it.” And so we've actually found a whole bunch of really cool cats scratching things or wrapping rope around a log or something that, you know, allows you to actually have something that feels intentional. And you can look at yourself and the cats love it."
