"Yes, for all intents and purposes, I'm a woman," Bruce Jenner told Diane Sawyer during an ABC 20/20 special titled Bruce Jenner: The Interview.

In the highly-anticipated, emotional interview, the former Olympian comes out as a transgender woman.

"People look at me differently. They see you as this macho male, but my heart and my soul and everything that I do in life - it is part of me," the 65-year-old patriarch of the Kardashian family said.

Speaking in the third person, the star explained, "I look at it this way — Bruce always telling a lie. He’s lived a lie his whole life about who he is. And I can’t do that any longer."

Bruce goes on to explain that he hasn't undergone gender reassignment surgery and still has all the "male parts", but he identifies "as female".

"I would say I've always been very confused with my gender identity since I was this big," he told Diane. "I tried to explain it, because I've had all my kids sitting in that chair … and I've tried to explain it this way. God's looking down, making little Bruce … he says 'Okay, what are gonna do with this one. Make him a smart kid, very determined ... and then when he's just finishing he says, 'Let's wait a second.'

"God looks down and chuckles a little bit and says, 'Hey, let's give him the soul of a female.'"

As far as his sexuality is concerned, the former Keeping Up with the Kardashians star says he isn't gay.

"I've never been with a guy," Bruce said. "There's two different things here. Sexuality is who you are personally attracted to. ... But gender identity is who you are in your soul."
