Reginald VelJohnson is feeling the love!
While speaking to PEOPLE moments after his performance on Dancing with the Stars, the Family Matters alum, 72, admitted that he was unaware of the warm reception he was receiving on social media platforms like TikTok.
"I didn't know about it until I met Emma [Slater]," VelJohnson said of the social media platform.
Since entering the competitive dance series with his pro partner Slater, the duo have been posting sweet clips of their budding friendship. "I'm very surprised and thankful for all the support that we get. It's really wonderful. I didn't realize so many people enjoyed what I do," he said.
While the Die Hard actor doesn't regularly check the apps, Slater revealed that she tries to share all of the positive comments he's received online.
"It really warms my heart, how much love he's getting," she added.
On this week's episode of Dancing with the Stars, VelJohnson reprised his role in Die Hard and paid tribute to his former costar and friend Bruce Willis amid his ongoing battle with dementia.
"Working with Bruce Willis, it was an experience I'll never forget. He was very kind to me in my first major role. I thanked him for that. I always will," the actor smiled. "This week, it's a tribute to my friend Bruce Willis. If you think I'm going out on double elimination, then yippee ki-yay motherf---er!"
After receiving notes from judges to incorporate more movement last week, VelJohnson captured the audience's hearts as he and Slater gracefully moved through their paso doble to Beethoven's "Ode to Joy."
"You're not playing at the 10 yet, but you are baby-stepping your way there, sir," judge Carrie Ann Inanba said before Derek Hough joked, "This is the only place you'll see a cop in a cumberbund!"
VelJohnson and Slater have quickly become a fan favorite and America voted to keep them in the running for the coveted mirrorball trophy for another week.
