Fake Melania Returns To 'Late Show' With Blistering Mic Drop On Trump 2.0

Actor Laura Benanti jumped back into character as first lady Melania Trump on Monday’s episode of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”

Benanti, as the bogus FLOTUS, joked about wanting her role eliminated as part of the massive cuts to public spending being ordered by billionaire Elon Musk.

The fake Melania denied claims she was just attempting to cash in on the presidency of her husband, Donald Trump, with her Amazon documentary, for which she is receiving $40 million, cracking: “I believe in that project so much that I would have take that $40 million for free.”

She also addressed Colbert’s suggestion that she was “grifting” her followers with the launch of a crypto meme coin. “No, what?” she asked. “No, their money is just a gift to me. After all, you can’t spell grift without gift. And you can’t spell gift without if. But if will never become I because I don’t give an F.”

Benanti as Trump concluded with a withering summary of present-day America.

It’s “a lot like Melania,” she said. “Trapped in a bad relationship with Donald Trump, just praying he doesn’t screw us any more than he already has.”
