‘Expats’ Trailer: Nicole Kidman Endures A Sudden Family Tragedy In Lulu Wang’s Limited Series

“I just sometimes want to be alone. Where I’m not somebody’s wife, not somebody’s mother. Where I’m not defined by tragedy.” Those words from Nicole Kidman’s Margaret open the first trailer for Expats, Prime Video’s six-part limited series directed by Lulu Wang, based on Janice Y.K. Lee’s bestselling novel The Expatriates.

Sarayu Blue, Ji-young Yoo, Brian Tee and Jack Huston also star in the series which premieres on January 26.

Tee plays Margaret’s husband Clarke and Huston plays Hilary’s husband David.

Wang serves as a creator, director and writer for Expats. She also executive produces the series with Daniele Melia for Local Time. Kidman serves as an executive producer for the series with Per Saari for Blossom Films (Rabbit HoleNine Perfect Strangers), along with Alice Bell (The Beautiful Lie), who was the first writer onboarded to the series. Theresa Park for Per Capita Productions (After Yang) and Stan Wlodkowski (The Old Guard) also serve as executive producers. Vera Miao (Two Sentence Horror), Gursimran Sandhu (Game of Thrones), and Lee served as writers on Expats with Bell and Wang.
