Emma Wiggles' 'costumes for everyone' faces backlash online
Parents are up in arms after Emma Watkins from The Wiggles revealed the famous children’s entertainment group have released ‘Emma Costumes For Everyone’.
The iconic costume Emma wears on stage includes a yellow skivvy, black and yellow tutu and a massive yellow and black bow.
Up until now, kids could only get their hands on the costume including the skirt if they wanted to dress up as their favourite Wiggle, however now there’s an Emma Wiggle costume with pants.
However, a post on Instagram announcing the new costume has caused heads to turn, after only girls were pictured wearing the tutu while all the boys were wearing the pant costume.
“Would have been nice to show boys in skirts too,” one person wrote.
“My grandson still loves wearing the Emma dress,” another wrote, with another person agreeing saying: “What’s the problem with boys with a skirt?”
“Why are the girls wearing pants but no boys wearing dresses? My boys love wearing tutus and dresses for dancing.,” another commenter said.
Emma Watkins has been contacted for comment.
It comes just months after Emma Watkins shared an adorable throwback snap from her own childhood to her Instagram account.

Holding up a fairy wand and dressed in a tiara, fairy wings and a pink tutu, Emma looks like she was always destined to be an entertainer in the cute photo, which was taken in 1996, when she was just seven-years-old.
“Saturday Sparkle. This is clearly how an Autumn Fairy may dress.... I wanted to make sure my costume was practical for the cooler weather. ‘Fairy with a jumper’ xx,” Emma captioned the snap.
Emma now of course gets to wear a tutu to work everyday, for her role as Yellow Wiggle on The Wiggles.
