Emily Ratajkowski Goes Backless in Vintage Donna Karan Dress for LACMA Art + Film Gala 2024 Red Carpet
Emily Ratajkowski modeled one of fall’s biggest color trends on Saturday at the 2024 LACMA Art + Film Gala in Los Angeles. The “My Body” author sported a backless brown satin and velvet gown from Donna Karan’s fall 1996 collection, which featured an off-the-shoulder neckline. Large diamond studs completed her look.
Stylist Emma Jade Morrison, who also counts Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Phoebe Tonkin as clients, dressed Ratajkowski for the occasion.

The model wore her brunette tresses in old Hollywood-inspired waves, while her makeup consisted of brown eyeshadow, black eyeliner and a nude glossy lip.
Last month, Ratajkowski put a sultry spin on a fall staple at H&M’s Block Party in New York. The supermodel opted for a plunging gray ribbed sweater dress ($39.99) from the affordable brand, adding on black leather boots, a small handbag and sporty wraparound shades.
Ratajkowski was recently revealed as the face of Self-Portrait’s latest campaign. Lensed by Tina Barney, the shoot depicts Ratajkowski in a beauty pageant.
“Working with Tina Barney, a photographer renowned for capturing intimate portraits of real-life splendor and tradition with sensitivity was a true privilege and I knew she would be the perfect woman to shoot Emily in all her crowning glory, as the ultimate Miss Self-Portrait,” Han Chong, founder and creative director of Self-Portrait, told WWD.
Shades of brown are poised for popularity per Pantone’s latest New York Fashion Week color trend report. Colors Bran and Rum Raisin were spotted on multiple runways, as well as on Vice President Kamala Harris, who recently wore a khaki Chloé pantsuit at the 2024 Democratic National Convention.
The LACMA Art+Film Gala, sponsored by Gucci, supports the museum’s curatorial programming, exhibitions, acquisitions and more programs that explore the intersection of art and film. Director Baz Luhrmann and sculptor Simone Leigh are the evening’s honorees.
