Emily Browning, Lukas Gage & Drake Rodger Set As Series Regulars In Hulu’s ‘Prison Break’ Pilot
Hulu and 20th Television’s Prison Break pilot from Elgin James (Mayans M.C., The Outlaws) is coming together as Emily Browning (One More Shot, American Gods), Lukas Gage (Euphoria, White Lotus) and Drake Rodger (Landman, The Winchesters) have been set as series regulars.
As we previously reported, James’ version will be its own thing and set within the same universe as the original FOX series of the same name from Paul Scheuring. This new project is not expected to involve the characters at the center of the OG project, Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller), and Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell). The spinoff project was first revealed to be in development in late 2023 and was picked up to pilot in December.

While the plot of James’ version is under wraps, the trio’s character descriptions give a little insight.
Browning will portray “Cassidy Collins,” an ex-soldier turned corrections officer who takes a job at one of the deadliest prisons in America.
Gage will portray “Jackson,” a politician from a well-to-do background in his first congressional campaign.
Rodger will portray “Tommy,” an inmate at one of the deadliest prisons in America, incarcerated ten years ago.
The original Prison Break, which debuted in 2005, followed Michael Scofield (Miller), a young man determined to prove his convicted brother Lincoln Burrows’ (Purcell) innocence and save him from death row by hatching an elaborate plan to escape prison. The series aired on FOX for four seasons, followed by a made-for-TV film titled The Final Break which aired 12 days after the Season 4 finale in 2009 to wrap things up. A 2015 Prison Break sequel limited series starring Miller and Purcell, also on Fox, served as a fifth season. The series Prison was the No. 1 most streamed series in the U.S. in August 2024, according to Nielsen. All episodes of the crime drama are available to stream on Hulu.
James is executive producing under his Sierra Drive production banner alongside four executive producers from the original series, Dawn Olmstead, who has been working closely with him throughout the development process, Prison Break creator Paul Scheuring, Marty Adelstein and Neal Moritz.
Browning most recently plays the lead role of ‘Minnie’ in the feature film One More Shot, which premiered this month at SXSW. She also appears in the feature drama Monica, under the direction of Italian filmmaker Andrea Pallaoro, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival. On the small screen, she played a lead guest role in American Horror Stories, as well as the lead in Prime Video’s Australian series, Class of ’07. Additional TV credits include the Starz series adaptation of American Gods, based on Neil Gaiman’s novel and Showtime’s The Affair. Notable film credits also include Working Title’s Legend, Shangri-La Suite, God Help The Girl and Warner Bros.’ Sucker Punch. She is repped by UTA, CP Artist Management, Signpost and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
Gage is known for his turn as ‘Dillon’ on Season 1 of HBO’s The White Lotus and ‘Tyler’ on Euphoria. Additional TV credits include Netflix’s Dead Boy Detectives, FX’s Fargo, and Netflix’s You. He also starred last year in the films Smile 2, Road House and Down Low, which he co-wrote. He is repped by WME, Luber Roklin Entertainment, and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman.
Rodger is best known by fans for portraying John Winchester in the CW’s Supernatural prequel series The Winchesters. He recently wrapped the first season of Amazon’s coming-of-age ensemble drama Motorheads alongside Ryan Phillippe, Nathalie Kelley and Michael Cimino, from John A. Norris and Cavalry Media, premiering later this year. He was last seen in the Taylor Sheridon Paramount+ Series Landman opposite Billy Bob Thornton and Jon Hamm. In film, Rodger starred opposite Marc Blucas and Brian McNamara in the upcoming feature, Quiet In My Town and Paramount’s The In Between with Joey King and Kyle Allen. He is repped by Gersh and Impact Artists Group.
