Yahoo Lifestyle Elon Musk Has Responded After Chloe Fineman Seemingly Exposed Him As Being The Mystery “Saturday Night Live” Host Who Made Cast Members Cry
Back in August, Saturday Night Live star Bowen Yang revealed that a celebrity host once made “multiple cast members cry” in the lead-up to the live show.
Bowen made the revelation during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live, when Andy Cohen asked: “Without naming names, what is the worst SNL host behavior you have witnessed?”
“Oh my gosh,” Bowen exclaimed, before revealing: “This man, this person, this host made multiple cast members cry.”
“On Wednesday, before the table read, because he hated the ideas,” Bowen added. “Terrible.”
Bowen later discussed the situation a little more during an appearance on SNL alumni Dana Carvey and David Spade’s podcast, Fly on the Wall.
For context, Dana starred in the NBC series from 1986 until 1993, and David from 1990 to 1996.
On the podcast, Dana shared his shock at the public’s reaction to Bowen’s comment, saying that he had personally found it “benign” because Bowen didn’t even name the person.
Bowen then theorized why it had caused such a storm, sharing: “I think it was me saying that this person made multiple cast members cry,” before insisting that this was more reflective of the cast’s high-pressure environment rather than the mystery celebrity himself.
“I think that is more about the environment of the place,” Bowen explained. “Imagine you stay up until 4:00 a.m. writing a sketch, and then the host is like: ‘I fucking hate this,’ you're gonna have some… Your nerves are frayed. You're gonna have some weird, bizarre, emotional response.”
“You’re exhausted, you’re emotionally spent — I get it,” David agreed, with Bowen clarifying: “I’m not saying I was the one who cried!”
Needless to say, people still wanted to know who the celebrity was, and a list of all of the male stars who have hosted the show during Bowen’s tenure as cast member began to circulate online. In case you didn’t know, Bowen joined the series as a writer in 2018, and was promoted to a full-time cast member the following year.
The names on the list are: Woody Harrelson, David Harbour, Chance the Rapper, Harry Styles, Will Ferrell, Eddie Murphy, Adam Driver, J.J. Watt, RuPaul, John Mulaney, Daniel Craig, Tom Hanks, Chris Rock, Bill Burr, Dave Chappelle, Jason Bateman, Timothée Chalamet, John Krasinski, Dan Levy.

And now, SNL star Chloe Fineman has seemingly revealed that the celebrity that Bowen was talking about was Elon Musk — and that she is one of the cast members who cried.
Chloe became a featured player on Saturday Night Live in September 2019, and Elon hosted the show in May 2021.
In a TikTok video that Chloe uploaded to her profile on Monday before deleting it a few hours later, she said that she was exposing Elon after seeing an article about him being “butthurt” over Dana’s impression of him on Saturday’s show.
“SNL has been dying slowly for years, as they become increasingly out of touch with reality,” Elon tweeted after the episode aired. “Their last-ditch effort to cheat the equal airtime requirements and prop up Kamala before the election only helped sink her campaign further.'"
“You’re clearly watching the show, like, what are you talking about?” Chloe started her video. “And you know what, I’m gonna come out and say, at long last, that I’m the cast member that he made cry, and he’s the host that made someone cry.”
“Maybe there’s others,” she went on. “But I saw some articles and stuff and was like: ‘I’m not gonna say anything,’ but I’m like, no, if you’re going to go on your platform and be rude, guess what? You made I, Chloe Fineman, burst into tears because I stayed up all night writing this sketch, I was so excited, I came in, I asked if you had any questions, and you stared at me like you were firing me from Tesla and were like: ‘It’s not funny.’”
“I waited for you to be like: ‘Haha, JK,’” Chloe added. “Then you started pawing through my script, like, flipping each page being like: ‘I didn’t laugh, I didn’t laugh once, not one time.'”
Despite this, Chloe revealed that the sketch ended up making it to air, with the star sharing: “Cut to the sketch made it on and it was fine, and I actually had a really good time, and I thought you were really funny in it… But, you know, have a little manners here, sir!”
It’s worth pointing out that Bowen said that the host he was referring to made “multiple” cast members cry, and Chloe did not say who else — if anyone — Elon brought to tears, making it possible that these were two separate instances.
As mentioned, Chloe deleted the TikTok without explanation a few hours after posting, and she has not publicly commented any further on the situation.
Meanwhile, Elon himself reacted to Chloe’s post on X, where he replied to someone’s tweet of the video to say: “Frankly, it was only on the Thursday before the Saturday that ANY of the sketches generated laughs. I was worried.”
“I was like damn my SNL appearance is going to be so fucking unfunny that it will make a crackhead sober!!” his tweet continued. “But then it worked out in the end.”
