Eiza Gonzalez; James MarsdenEiza Gonzalez is putting her friendship with James Marsden to the test.
The Ash actress was tasked with prank calling several of her closest friends as part of a recent Elle video, with Marsden being one of the unlucky and unknowing participants. When the Paradise star picked up, Gonzalez nervously informed him that she'd just crashed into a friend's car and then fled the scene.
“Oh, well. I think... Uh, here’s what I think. I think you just… We call him and say, ‘Hey, I did this and totally blacked out and panicked and I’m so sorry,’” Marsden stuttered as Gonzalez put a hand to her heart. “I think the sooner you do that the better and he’ll totally understand and he’ll know that it’s coming from you.”

GonzalezGonzalez then asked Marsden if he thought that she could just get away with lying to her friend about her involvement the incident entirely. When Marsden hesitantly stated that he couldn’t answer that question for her, she added, “James, James, it was so bad. Like I totaled the car.”
Looking for a silver lining, Marsden then pointed out that she hit a friend’s car, so it’s “not like a stranger who’s gonna come after you and sue you” for damages. However, he only gave Gonzalez more prank fodder in the process. “Do you think he’s gonna sue me?” She exclaimed. “Do you think he’s gonna ask me to pay for it?”
A flustered Marsden explained that someone will likely have to pay for the damages. “Can you pay for it for me?” Gonzalez asked, bursting into laughter as she sent him into an even deeper spiral.
“Um… I think you’re just gonna have to… I mean, one of your insurance companies will figure it out," he said, sidestepping the ask. "Which… but… he’s a friend and he’ll understand and it was an accident.”
But Gonzalez didn't let him off the hook that easy. She then attempted to get Marsden to commit to paying half of the damages for her, a request so outrageous that she had to mute herself on the phone call to laugh.
Marsden, on the other hand, didn’t find the scenario nearly as funny. “Oh my God, what? Well, I guess, I mean…” He paused, then added, “Are you f---ing with me? What the f---? What the hell!”

A laughing Gonzalez then confirmed to Marsden that he'd just been pranked. “I started to go off the rails when you said, ‘You think you’ll pay half of it with me?’ You’re gonna give me a f---ing heart attack!” He groaned. “I’m like, what the hell. What if I said, ‘Do not bring it up, baby, just hit the road!’”
As a fair trade for putting him through the wringer, Gonzalez said Marsden could get “payback” on her in the future. “Ooh,” he replied. “My creative juices are already spinning.”
