The belief that truth is often stranger than fiction would definitely help explain many of the bizarre antics on this season of Married at First Sight.
But some shockingly tell-tale signs may debunk what goes on behind the scenes, and this apparent editing fail could be one of them.
During Sunday night’s reunion dinner party episode, on-screen lothario Dan Webb was spotted by viewers oddly appearing to whisper into his collar.
The truth however, was not how it seemed.
Instead of ‘giving his body a pep talk’ as suggested by one Twitter user, the 34-year-old was apparently whispering into a mic that was attached to his shirt – a move that left viewers baffled.
“Anyone else see Dan whispering into his microphone when Jules was talking to Mel about being a bridesmaid…?!’ asked one bemused fan.
“Ok… so who is Dan speaking to inside his shirt?” said another.
Yahoo Lifestyle has contacted Channel Nine for comment.
In addition to that confusion, was the clunky appearance of crew members loitering in the background of several scenes.
Notably, cameramen were spotted on screen rushing to capture the explosive confrontation between Cyrell and Martha.
Another shot showed a cameramen awkwardly hovering behind Mark Scrivens before the contingent of crew are again clearly seen next to the dinner party’s main table.
Despite the confusion, it’s far from the first time Married at First Sight has been called out for their post-production blunders.
Mid-way through the series Mick was spotted already sitting on the couches chatting to other couples pre-dinner party, before he had actually arrived at the event.
Jess had woken up slightly worse for wear after the dinner party and fans noticed she had red nail polish on her fingers which, of course, is perfectly normal – except that she had nude nails at the dinner party.
And fast forward to that evening’s commitment ceremony, Jess was back to the nude polish.
The same commitment ceremony came with its own awkward cuts.
Jessika and Mick were talking to the experts on the couch, but as the camera then cuts to concerned looking MAFS expert John Aitken, and then moves to Mike who appears to be engrossed the conversation, you’ll have seen Jess to the right of screen (who of course was meant to be on the couch with Mick) sitting next to Mike.
