Diana's brother snubbed from Archie's christening after royal 'falling out'
Archie Mountbatten Windsor may be only two-months-old, but the tiny royal has been at the centre of more drama than the average person confronts in a lifetime.
It’s not letting up either, as it looks like the bub’s christening was the scene of quite a big snub for one family member, who appears to be firmly on the outs.
Royal watchers couldn’t help but notice that Harry’s maternal uncle Earl Charles Spencer, was noticeably absent from any images released of the day, and according to a source, this is no accident.
Though both Harry’s aunties, Lady Jane Fellowes and Lady Sarah McCorquodale, were pictured in the official snap, their brother Charles was nowhere to be seen.
"It was no surprise that the Earl was not at the christening as he and Harry have been distant for a long time now," the anonymous source told The Sun.
“The falling out goes back years and it is hard to see them ever making amends.”
The Earl’s infamous speech at Diana’s funeral simultaneously celebrated her memory and shone a harsh light on the royal institution.
“Someone with a natural nobility who was classless and who proved in the last year that she needed no royal title to continue to generate her particular brand of magic,” he described his sister.
He also ‘pledged’ that he and his family would look after Will and Harry, “so that their souls are not simply immersed by duty and tradition but can sing openly as you planned”.
It seems that despite the best intentions however, a steadfast relationship wasn’t on the cards for the uncle.
Rumours swirled when he was barely visible, tucked up the back of the church at Harry and Meghan’s wedding and his notable absence from the most recent portrait is only fuelling the fire.
Of course, Harry’s other uncles and aunts, including Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edwards were not present in photos either.
Speculation that the Earl may have been present, just not pictured, has been put to bed by the fact he was spotted promoting his new book To Catch A King: Charles II’s Great Escape at the Winchester Festival.
