“DWTS ”Pro Daniella Karagach Reveals She Experienced a Miscarriage Before Welcoming First Baby: 'A Huge Loss'
Karagach and husband Pasha Pashkov welcomed their daughter Nikita in May 2023
Dancing with the Stars pro Daniella Karagach is speaking out about experiencing a miscarriage before welcoming her first child.
In an interview with Good Morning America published Wednesday, Oct. 2, during Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, the 31-year-old dancer opened up about experiencing the "gut-wrenching" pregnancy loss at five weeks gestation.
Karagach and her husband — fellow DWTS pro Pasha Pashkov, whom she married in 2014 — learned they were expecting a baby in July 2022. After the miscarriage, PEOPLE confirmed they had a little one on the way in November 2022, and they welcomed daughter Nikita on May 30, 2023.
"If it was one day or a week, or five months, or three months, or one month, or whatever the timeline was, like, it was still a loss for me, and it was a huge loss," Karagach told the outlet. "It was a baby, you know. So it was something we've wanted and pictured ourselves [with]."
The TV personality recalled being in her "lowest of lows" after the miscarriage, praising Pashkov, 38, for being her "saving grace" in the moment.
"Pasha really got me out of that, like state, and he was obviously grieving with me, and it wasn't easy to talk about at the moment, but he got me out of a really bad place," she told GMA. "And we just truly believe that we need to trust and if it's going to happen, it's going to happen at the right time."

Karagach — who said DWTS helped her "relieve some stress" — now wants to help others who might be going through a similar experience. "I'm sharing my story, just as, you know, somebody else shared their story to me, and that got me out of such a dark place. I only hope I can help someone try and get out of theirs," she said.
"If you don't seek help, or if you don't share it with someone, I feel like me personally, it could have really taken me down … because the first thing I wanted to do was blame myself," Karagach told the outlet. "I always find comfort in sharing with them, because even though they can't help you go through that situation, they can always uplift you."
Karagach's interview came after she and her husband spoke to PEOPLE in July about parenthood.
"I think it was natural on some level, because, again, we have always pictured ourselves being parents, being a family. We've always looked forward to it," Pashkov said at the time. "But at the same time nothing can prepare you until you actually have your own child and you have to take care of this tiny human being that is completely dependent on you."
"So it is definitely a bit of both. It felt somewhat natural and, at the same time, completely foreign," he added.
Karagach is currently starring on season 33 of DWTS alongside partner Dwight Howard, while Beverly Hills, 90210 actress Tori Spelling was competing with Pashkov before their elimination on Sept. 24.
