Driver's scare in taxi after returning home

A huge boa constrictor has been found in the engine of a man's taxi after he returned from a few days out of town.

The hidden snake was found under the bonnet of a taxi owned by Alvaro Sandoval in the Colombian capital Bogota.

The exact day it happened is unclear but the authorities reported the incident on February 23.

Local media said Sandoval had recently visited La Mesa, around 80 kilometres from Bogota, to enjoy a few days of rest.

However, he was shocked to find the snake under his car bonnet after returning home and checking the engine.

The stunned driver contacted the Colombian National Police who sent two environmental agents to collect the reptile.

The two officers removed the large snake which was seen tangled around different components of the car.

“This boa constrictor was found camouflaged in the motor of a vehicle coming from La Mesa. Its owner discovered it after arriving in Bogota and called our environmental patrol who rescued it,"the police said in a statement.

Sandoval was not injured during the terrifying incident.

Experts are expected to run tests on the boa constrictor to decide the best habitat for it as sudden changes to a snake’s environment can have negative effects on their health and even cause death.
