One reader had opinions about Douglas and his snacking and offered, "This is totally random but my friend trained her dog who loved to bite her flowy dresses by going "ouch!" and acting like the dog had bit her when it bit the dress and it took only a few instances and her dog stopped doing it entirely."

There could be all sorts of reasons a dog could decide to chew on something, especially if they are a teething puppy. If you want to curb your own dog off this annoying habit, here are some things to keep in mind.

Puppies chew for different reasons than adult dogs, and PetHelpful explains, "Puppies chew, and it's important that they have things that they are allowed to chew on. Puppies need to chew to help with the teething process, to keep their teeth healthy, and because it's a natural instinct."

Dogs may chew for different reasons, and your first step is to consult with your veterinarian to make sure there are no underlying medical reasons for your dog to be chewing on everything. Reasons a dog may chew on things is because they are nervous or have anxiety or even dental issues.

Make sure your dog has access to things they are allowed to chew on, like chew toys and dog treats. make sure you rotate these things so your dog doesn't get bored.

Make sure your dog is trained with commands like "leave it" or "drop it." Reward them when they obey to reinforce good behavior.

You can try using things like chew deterrent sprays or bitter apple sprays to keep your dog from chewing on furniture too.

Also, always remember that the more you walk and exercise your dog the less trouble they will get into, so adding an extra walk around the block can help curb negative behaviors too!
