DDG Published A Video Urging Fans Not To “Hate On” Halle Bailey After She Said She “Overreacted” To Him Bringing Their 10-Month-Old Son On A Livestream

DDG has defended Halle Bailey from online criticism after the debate over their 10-month-old son’s appearance on a viral livestream prompted her to briefly delete her social media accounts.

In case you need a bit of context, Halle and DDG — who were first romantically linked in 2022 — share a son, Halo, who was born last December.

Last month, DDG announced on social media that he and Halle had split up. He emphasized in his statement that the two of them “are still best friends” and plan to focus on their “roles as co-parents” to Halo.

However, earlier this week, the exes found themselves at the center of a public parenting dispute when Halo joined DDG for an internet livestream with Kai Cenat on Tuesday.

In clips that have circulated online, DDG can be seen holding baby Halo throughout the livestream and, at one point, appeared to carry him in a bag as viewers watched on. BuzzFeed has chosen to blur Halo's face in the screengrab.

While the livestream was still underway, it became clear that Halle was uncomfortable with her son’s participation, as she wrote on X: “hi everyone. just so you know i am out of town and i don’t approve of my baby being on a stream tonight.”

Her post continued: “i wasn’t told or notified and i am extremely upset to have my baby in front of millions of people. i am his mother and protector and saddened that i wasn’t notified especially when i am out of town.”Unfortunately, Halle’s post prompted a number of mixed responses. While some fans were in support, others accused her of being a hypocrite by pointing out that she often shares photos and videos of Halo on social media.

Amid the online debate, Halle deleted her X and Instagram accounts. And when she returned on Thursday, she shared a follow-up post on X saying that she may have “overreacted.”

“i know that halo is always safe with his dad,” she said, after confessing she regrets bringing their private dispute online. “i just don’t like finding out with the rest of the world what my baby is doing. thank u kai for the gifts for halo 🩷✨”

And now, DDG has spoken out in Halle’s defense, telling fans in a new YouTube video: “One thing I don’t like what people do. I don’t like when people hate on Halle.”

Calling baby Halo “the biggest blessing” in his life, DDG said: “I wouldn’t have him if it wasn’t for Halle, and for that reason alone, I got unconditional love and respect for her that nobody can really change.”

Sharing insight into how they manage “online backlash” differently, DDG said he has “way thicker skin,” while it’s “something very, very new” for Halle.

Halle has yet to respond to DDG’s latest comments, but we’ll be sure to let you know if she does. In the meantime, what’s your take on this whole saga? Should DDG and Halle agree to keep Halo offline until they figure out some ground rules? LMK in the comments.
