'Deadpool and Wolverine' to hit Disney Plus next month following stellar theatrical release

Marvel Studios' "Deadpool & Wolverine" is coming to Disney Plus next month after breaking theatrical box office records and becoming the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time, the Walt Disney Company announced.

Disney shared the news via a "Look Ahead" teaser that dropped on Wednesday for upcoming Marvel Studios titles. The company also confirmed the movie's streaming debut in a news release.

"Marvel Studios’ 'Deadpool & Wolverine,' the highest grossing R-rated movie of all time, comes to the small screen on November 12," according to the release.

The movie surpassed "Joker" to become the most successful R-rated movie ever, and stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman led the charge as they reprised their iconic roles as Deadpool and Wolverine.

“People thought when Disney bought Marvel, ‘They’re going to shave off the hard edges. They’re going to make it all G-rated,’” Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said in an Aug. 16 news release. “Of course, that was never the intention.”

In addition to starring in the film, Reynolds also produced it alongside Feige and helped pen the script with writers Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick and Zeb Wells.

The film, directed by Shawn Levy, grossed over $1.34 billion worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo.
