DC Studios Unveils New Logo, Bringing Back Classic Design

The new regime at DC Studios, led by James Gunn and Peter Safran, has already started putting their stamp on the division’s output with rebooted film and TV slate. Now they are also revamping the studio’s logo, emphasizing tradition and harkening back to the nights of the 1980s and 1990s that included Christopher Reeve’s Superman and Michael Keaton’s Batman movies.

The new DC Studios logo, unveiled today at Comic-Con, is an updated version of the classic “DC bullet” logo, created by famous graphic designer Milton Glaser who was also behind the “I Love NY” logo. Glaser’s creation used by DC Studios from 1977 until 2005. Since then, the studio has gone through multiple logos, the most recent of which is featured above.

He introduced the reveal of the new logo with a video, which you can watch below. It payed on the Comic-Con stage.

Gunn and Safran have a development slate in full force that includes Superman, which Gunn is directing and currently in production in, The Authority, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow and Andy Muschetti’s Batman pic Brave and the Bold. On the TV side, they have the animated series Creature Commandos, which screened its first trailer at Comic-Con and will premiere later this year.
