Dawn Hollyoak, Former Great British Baking Show Contestant, Dead at 61

Dawn Hollyoak, who competed on The Great British Baking Show in 2022, has died. She was 61 years old.

Hollyoak’s death was announced on her Instagram page on Friday. “It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of our star baker Dawn,” the post read. “Not only a wonderfully talented baker but first and foremost an amazing mother, grandmother, wife and friend. Dawn passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. We will miss her forever, but promise to continue her baking legacy!” Her cause of death is not yet known.

Hollyoak competed in Season 10 of The Great British Baking Show (aka The Great British Bake Off). She was eliminated in Episode 6 after Halloween Week. Upon receiving the news of her elimination, Hollyoak called competing on the show “one of the absolute best experiences of my life.”

Great British Baking Show judge Paul Hollywood offered his condolences to Hollyoak’s family in an Instagram comment on Friday. “I’m so sorry to hear that, send my love to the family,” he wrote, calling Hollyoak a “lovely lady.”

Carole Edwards, who competed alongside Hollyoak before being eliminated in Episode 5, commented: “I will miss my friend terribly, a beautiful and talented lady inside and out, fly high my friend, life just won’t be the same without you. Sending all my love to the family.”
