Dannii Minogue admits she and sister Kylie used to 'fight' all the time

The Masked Singer judge Dannii Minogue has shared how she and sister Kylie Minogue used to "fight" all the time as kids and how their relationship has changed over the years.

During an appearance on the Squiz Kids podcast, a daily news podcast for children, Dannii was asked by a young listener, "I have an older sister - who I mostly love. But every now and then we fight over things, and we don’t always see eye to eye. Was it the same with your sister when you were growing up? And will it always be this way or do things get better as you get older?"

"I have to say that I did fight with my sister," the 49-year-old said. "We had to share a room. And we very clearly remember there was masking tape that went down the middle of the room. That was her side, and this was my side.

"And you never took or borrowed something from the other side. There was a lot of negotiating. And I feel that when you fight with your siblings, it’s an important part of growing up and learning about yourself and how to communicate. You will start to know what are the sorts of things that you do or say that make others angry, happy or sad."

She continued, "It’s ok to fight it’s ok to have different opinions. Down the road, though, you will become so close to your brothers and sisters."

Dannii also warned a young fan who asked if "being famous is all it's cracked up to be" and what the pros and cons of fame are.

"What a question... Fame is something that when you have it, you can’t go back," she explained. "When I started performing as a kid, there was no paparazzi in Melbourne, there was no social media.

"Fame for me back then was someone would look at me and recognise me. It was a simple exchange. As I grew older the fame became more and more - but there was no going back."

The singer added, "With fame - there’s a lot of cool stuff that can happen, but also a lot of stuff that can impact your life - and not just your life, but the life of your parents, brothers, sisters - all of your extended family. So think very carefully before wishing to become famous - look around at all the important people in your life and know that it’s going to impact their lives too."

Dannii has previously spoken about being "pitted" against Kylie when they were both starting out.

"I was definitely pitted against my sister: ‘She’s thin and perfect and you’re not, you’re fat and…’ – I’ve had every word said to me. It was difficult," she told You magazine.

Thankfully, the pair worked it out, "You know, we had to have the conversation about it, but not let that conversation be our whole time together. I went to her and we did discuss it. But we had to not become consumed by someone else’s headspace."
