Also a writer, producer and director, Kaluuya produced Adamma Ebo’s Sundance-premiering comedy “Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul” under his 59% Productions banner. He made his feature writing and co-directing debut with the dystopian thriller “The Kitchen”; the Netflix movie was also produced by 59% Productions.
Next up, the company is collaborating with A24 and Mattel Films on a live-action “Barney” film, with Kaluuya as the lead producer. Ayo Edebiri is writing the screenplay and in talks to star.
59% Productions also teamed up with the famed London theatre company, Roundhouse, to establish Centre 59. The creative partnership was founded in 2023 with the mission to create a home for young artists to “express their own truth and stories through a programme of writing, acting, directing and producing.” Centre 59’s first show, “Sonder,” will run April 9-12 at the Roundhouse. On stage, Kaluuya won an Evening Standard Award and a Critics Circle Theatre Award for outstanding newcomer for his role in “Sucker Punch.”
In addition to WME, Kaluuya continues to be represented by the U.K.’s B-Side Management and Johnson Shapiro Slewett and Kole.
