During the ongoing catastrophic wildfires in the Los Angeles area this week, President-elect Donald Trump wrote a Truth Social post on Wednesday blaming California Governor Gavin Newsom for the crisis. Notably, Trump referred to Newsom with his nickname for him, “Newscum.”

In her Wednesday monologue, The Daily Show recurring host Desi Lydic responded sarcastically, “In the midst of chaos, Donald Trump is taking action by opening up the strategic nickname reserves. Thank you, sir.”

She added, “Although, quick question for Trump: do you mean ‘new scum’ or ‘news cum?’”

She followed it up with the viral clip of Trump saying, “I’m gonna come.” It’s a video The Daily Show has been using a lot over the past year.

Lydic also joked about the surprise appearance of actor Steve Guttenberg, the Police Academy star who’s made the news recently for his on-the-ground assistance to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

“Holy s--t! Steve Guttenberg? The actor Steve Guttenberg? Moving abandoned cars out of the way for firefighters? That is amazing, OK?” Lydic said.

“And not only that, but if anyone abandons a baby, he and two other men will raise it for them. Hijinks will ensue,” she joked. “Of course, as great as that is to see, officials are warning that now that the fire has reached Steve Guttenberg, it’s only two degrees from Kevin Bacon.”

Late Night host Stephen Colbert also addressed the wildfire situation on Wednesday, speaking seriously about it at the start of his monologue.

“We know the people of Los Angeles are resourceful and kind, and they’re doing everything they can to help one another,“ Colbert said. ”And we here want to send our love and concern to all of the residents of Los Angeles, who are facing what’s being described as the most destructive fire in the city’s history."

Colbert put up a QR code on the screen that sent viewers to a list of LA-based relief organizations they could donate to.

Meanwhile Jimmy Kimmel Live!, filmed in Los Angeles, had to cancel Wednesday’s taping due to the worsening weather conditions. It’s not known yet if the show will return for its scheduled episode on Thursday.
